Recent Works

I like to think of my abstract oil and acrylic paintings as pure art, untainted by message or agenda.

I'm offering the viewer an aesthetic only; to appreciate to whatever degree they choose and let their imagination determine it's substance.

I reject realism, representationalism, and the familiar, preferring to create a non specific vision. My recent works are nonobjective, surreal in nature and intentionally, deny definition. These images evolve from impulse or reflex rather than planning. I don't work from sketches, I prefer to invent details as the painting proceeds, building on the previous layers until I feel the composition works.

I see each work as an exercise in engineering space, using old school rudiments, (line vs. mass and color), to achieve the balance that makes good design.
